Woodlands South MRT: The TEL Station Beside the Two Woodlands Drive 17 EC Sites
Woodlands South is not a future station waiting to appear on a brochure. Passenger service began on 31 January 2020 as part of the first stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line, together with Woodlands and Woodlands North. LTA places the station along Woodlands Avenue 1, between the Woodlands Drive 16, Woodlands Drive 17 and Woodlands Avenue 1 junctions. That makes it the clearest rail anchor for both Woodlands Drive 17 EC parcels.
What the station changes for a household
Woodlands station provides the nearby interchange between the Thomson-East Coast Line and North-South Line. The TEL then continues through the north and central corridor, giving commuters another route rather than relying solely on the NSL. LTA describes the full TEL as a 43km line with 32 stations and connections to Singapore's major rail lines.
Those network facts are useful, but a property decision still depends on the final project gate and the route a resident can actually use. The Clovelle EC location page therefore treats Woodlands South as the closest recorded station reference while leaving the measured walk TBA.
A station built around five entrances
LTA's opening factsheet records five entrances for Woodlands South station. It also describes the station as approximately 206 metres long, 24 metres wide and 22 metres below ground. Those are interesting engineering details, but they do not prove which entrance will be most convenient from a future EC block.
The correct sequence is to compare the developer's approved site plan with the station entrances when both are available. A future Clovelle showflat visit should establish the final project entrance before anyone advertises a precise walking time. The floor-plan page can then be read together with stack orientation and the official site plan.
Fun fact: a ten-year time capsule beneath the commute
Woodlands South's Art in Transit work is called 3652 x 50. Artist Kng Mian Tze gathered promises from 50 people who lived, worked or studied around the station, framing a ten-year period as 3,652 days. It turns an ordinary commute into a reminder that neighbourhoods and personal lives evolve together.
Transport access is not a price forecast
An operating MRT station can improve convenience, but it does not establish a launch price, unit premium or investment return. Those claims require separate evidence. Check the Clovelle EC price status for verified developer figures and use the project evidence hub to distinguish this larger Sim Lian parcel from the neighbouring CDL site.
